All by Myself ? Eric Carmen Scenery of Japan

Live 1973 television performance. Let’s start with the video’s faults first… (1) camera features way too many closeups and dominance of Eric Carmen (not his fault of course), (2) band mates are grossly underplayed, (3) orchestra seems to be generated by keyboards, and (4) not enough variety of audience, band and other visuals. Now, let’s get to the positive. ‘I Can Remember’ was a masterpiece off the Raspberries debute LP (you know, the one with the pleasant raspberry smell), which was one of those rare albums where every track was simply superb… no filler at all. Though the Raspberries crafted perfect 3 minute pop ballads, ICR was the exception… over 7 minutes of goosebump-inducing classical angst drama at it’s finest! Because of it’s length, it never made it to radio play and is seldom remembered as one of their big hits, though it easily could have been. But this performance was the one which won-over several of my sceptical college-buds who had previously ridiculed anyone that might enjoy the Raspberries, (serious music listeners weren’t supposed to like top-40 music in that era). When this performance opened on our TV screen, the room grew silent, people actually stopped talking and listened attentively for the entire 7 minutes. At ICR’s conclusion, exclamations soon followed with “wow!”, “incredible!”, “that was fantastic!”, “I’m speechless!”, “boy!!”, and “now tell me about those guys again.” No, this video is not perfect but it reminds us that for a few …

The tune sold more than 1.3 million copies and earned the band their first Gold Record Award. It was their second single release, and appeared on their debut LP, Raspberries. The tune ranked at #33 on Billboard’s Top 100 Singles of 1972 year-end list (#39 on Cashbox’s year-end best-sellers countdown). In 1989, Spin magazine named “Go All The Way” to its list of the “100 Greatest Singles Of All Time”, ranking it at #91. “Go All The Way” appeared in Blender magazine’s July 2006 issue as one of its “Greatest Songs Ever”. Because of its sexually suggestive lyrics, considered risque for the day, the song was banned by the BBC. In both the US and the UK, the Raspberries helped pioneer the power pop music style that took off after the group disbanded. The group’s original lineup consisted of Eric Carmen (vocalist/guitarist/bassist), Wally …

PEAKED AT #3 IN 1988. LYRICS: Lyrics Make Me Lose Control Eric Carmen Song Lyrics For Make Me Lose Control by Eric Carmen Eric Carmen I run a comb through my hair and step out in the street And the city’s the color of flame in the mid-summer heat, oh yeah Jennifer’s got her daddy’s car, she’s playing up-town on the stereo We go cruisin’ so close, the way they did long ago My darlin’ CHORUS: (Turn) Turn the radio up for that sweet sound Hold me close never let me go (Keep) Keep this feelin’ alive Make me lose control Baby baby (When) When I look in your eyes, I go crazy Fever’s high with the lights down low (So take) Take me over the edge Make me lose control We put the top down and park with the moon in the sky And the wind is so hot in our hair, like a fire in july, oh yeah Jennifer’s singin’ “Stand by Me” and she knows every single word by heart Was love always this good, or could this be just the start? Oh darlin’ CHORUS Keep my baby clothes on, and were movin’ in time And the heat from your touch, makes me feel like I’m losing my mind Oh yeah (And then they played) Back in my arms again(We close our eyes) We start rememberin’ when (We start to kiss) And all the feelings return And we just pray that this night never ends Oh, my darlin’ (Turn) Turn the radio up for that sweet sound Hold me close never let me go Keep this feelin’ alive make me lose control Baby When I look in your eyes, I go crazy Fever’s high with the lights down low (So take) Take me over the edge Make …
Foolin’Myself – ERIC CARMEN – from the Album “Tonight You’re Mine” (1980) Lyrics: Seems so crazy, but I guess it’s true Girl, you’ve really got a hold on me Well I’ve been hurt before So now I must be sure Are you feelin’ it too Maybe this time it’s true Or am I foolin’ myself Once again I’ve got to know for sure That I’m not foolin’ myself Once again ‘Cause I couldn’t stand the pain Findin’ out it really wasn’t true I was foolin’ myself Into lovin’ you If you’re still in love with someone else Girl, you know it’s gonna break my heart But I just can’t let go So now I’ve got to know Is it love that you feel Maybe this time it’s real Or am I foolin’ myself Once again I’ve got to know for sure That I’m not foolin’ myself Once again ‘Cause I couldn’t stand the pain Findin’ out it really wasn’t true I was foolin’ myself Into lovin’ you Am I foolin’ myself Once again I’ve got to know for sure That I’m not foolin’ myself Once again ‘Cause I couldn’t stand the pain Findin’ out it really wasn’t true I was foolin’ myself Into lovin’ you Oh, I’ve got to know for sure That I’m not foolin’ myself Once again Oh, I’ve got to know for sure That I’m not foolin’ myself Once again
